One thing I noticed once I arrived on the tech scene is that there wasn’t that many people that looked like me so I jumped at the chance to attend this years AfroTech conference in downtown Oakland, California. Over 7,000 black professionals in the tech space ranging from engineers/programmers and founders to designers and product managers created a space to share career tips and to attend workshops, tech centered programming and networking events for a week. Many companies based in the Bay Area sponsored the conference and if not hosted events to recruit some of the top black talent in the country.
